Tesmec Launches the M5 Rock Hawg: A New Surface Mining Solution Built for the Toughest Ground
Tesmec announced the official launch of the M5 Rock Hawg, a new torque converter surface miner engineered for site preparation, open-pit quarries, and surface mining operations in abrasive and rocky terrain.
The M5 Rock Hawg combines high chain pull with very low chain speed, and features a 10'6" wide, rear-mounted drum — larger than the machine's own tracks — enabling vertical wall and square corner excavation in configurations (up-cutting or down-cutting) that adapt to a wide range of job site conditions.
The machine is equipped with Tesmec's latest technology platform: TrenchTronic 5.0 for electronic digging control and fully automatic operation, Re.M for remote machine monitoring and fleet management, and, as an option, TrenchIntel, a high-precision 3D GPS guidance system for automatic depth and grade control, autosteering, and pass optimization.
The M5 Rock Hawg is powered by a Tier 4 CAT C13B ACERT engine (456 HP / 340 kW) and is available with a swap kit that allows the M5 platform to also be configured with a chainsaw attachment.
“The M5 Rock Hawg is the result of Tesmec's continued investment in solutions purpose-built for the North American market. It reflects our approach to innovation: technology that translates directly into productivity and safety on the job site” said Marco Paredi, BU Director – Trencher, Tesmec.
The M5 Rock Hawg is manufactured in the USA and is available through Tesmec USA.
