International Clean Energy Day - Tesmec commitment presented by the Sustainability & Innovation Funding Manager

Today, January 26, marks the International Clean Energy Day, established by the United Nations to promote a fair and sustainable transition toward cleaner energy systems. The technologies developed by our Group—from solutions for energy and infrastructure networks to advanced digital systems—help make infrastructures more efficient, reliable, and ready to integrate renewable sources. Both in jobsites and within our internal processes, we continue to invest in reducing consumption, emissions, and environmental impact.

To further explore the Group’s role in the energy transition, we interviewed Patrizia Pellegrinelli, Sustainability & Innovation Funding Manager at Tesmec.

What is Tesmec vision on Sustainability and Energy Transition?

At Tesmec, sustainability means a concrete commitment to environmental protection, strong social responsibility, and wee-structured governance. This mindset is deeply embedded in our business model and is supported by a corporate culture that puts people at the center and embraces sustainable innovation as an essential driver for accelerating the shift toward more efficient, digitalized, and sustainable energy systems.

How does Tesmec long history in the energy sector shape its current approach?

We have always been working in the fields of energy, infrastructures, and railway mobility—sectors that are strategic for the development of each and every country. In the global challenge of decarbonization and electrification, infrastructures play a crucial role in enabling sustainable progress. Tesmec has long positioned itself as an enabler of the green transition, providing advanced technologies for network digitalization and renewable integration, at the same time ensuring the highest safety standards.

What are the Group main initiatives and future goals in clean energy?

We have upgraded the large photovoltaic system at the Grassobbio plant by replacing the existing panels with next‑generation modules and expanding the installed area. This intervention has led to a significant increase in solar energy production, resulting in a consequent reduction in CO₂ emissions. In addition, Tesmec S.p.A., to complement the energy self‑generated by its photovoltaic system, purchases electricity exclusively from renewable sources with guarantees of origin. The plants in Monopoli and Patrica are also equipped with photovoltaic systems. Improving energy efficiency and increasing the share of energy procured from renewable sources are among our main sustainability objectives. We therefore plan to continue investing both in guarantee‑of‑origin contracts for the supply of green energy and in the optimization of our photovoltaic system efficiency.
